Iran Signals Stronger Post-War Partnership with China

(MENAFN) Iran’s ambassador to China, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, said Friday that relations between Tehran and Beijing are set to become “broader and deeper” following the end of recent regional hostilities, as geopolitical tensions continue to intensify.

Speaking in Beijing, Fazli said Iran and China maintain “very common views” on regional security, peace, and global development. His remarks came shortly before a planned visit to Beijing by US President Donald Trump, amid speculation about possible diplomatic maneuvering involving China’s role in Middle East negotiations.

Reports have suggested that Washington may consider economic incentives, including tariff adjustments, in an effort to encourage Beijing to take a tougher stance on Tehran within broader peace discussions. Iranian officials, however, dismissed such expectations.

The ambassador expressed confidence in the durability of Iran-China relations, stating that external pressure would not alter Beijing’s strategic position toward Tehran.

He emphasized that Iran does not believe the United States can influence China’s foreign policy decisions regarding its partnership with Iran.

In parallel diplomacy, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks in Beijing with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where both sides reportedly reaffirmed respect for Iran’s sovereignty and national interests.

Araghchi also highlighted Iran’s expectation that China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting regional stability and supporting efforts to end conflict, while contributing to the development of a post-conflict regional framework that integrates security and economic cooperation.

Despite ongoing Western sanctions, economic relations between Iran and China have continued to expand, with bilateral trade reaching nearly $10 billion in 2025, underscoring sustained economic engagement between the two countries.
