IndiGo restores all flight operations after disruptions
“This means all flights published on our website are scheduled to operate with an adjusted network,” the airline said in a statement. “We have optimised our operations, and our on-time performance is also back to normal levels.”
IndiGo reported operating over 1,800 flights and planned nearly 1,900 flights for Wednesday.
The airline faced widespread cancellations last week across various regions, prompting public frustration and the initiation of a high-level investigation by authorities. Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed that while the inquiry continues, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was summoned to the ministry.
Elbers “confirmed that 100% of the refunds for flights affected till 6th December have been completed,” said Naidu, who attributed the disruptions to “internal mismanagement of crew rosters, flight schedules and inadequate communication.”
The minister also noted that reducing the airline’s overall routes is necessary to stabilize operations and lower cancellation rates. “A curtailment of 10 % has been ordered,” he said, emphasizing that the airline must follow all ministry directives.
Naidu informed parliament that "strict and appropriate action will be taken" against IndiGo in response to the disruptions.
